Spacer selection to fit your requirements

Fibre-reinforced concrete spacers ensure the concrete cover of reinforced concrete structures before and during concreting. Spacers are selected according to specific requirements. The following criteria are decisive:

1. Exposure class acc. to Eurocode 2 / additional requirements

The durability requirements for the reinforcement and concrete corrosion are regulated in the classes depending on the chemical and physical effects. Additional stresses for spacers can arise for use in drinking water areas or in the case of high loads.

2. Fibre concrete mixture selection

MAX FRANK offers three fibre concrete mixes:

  • ′Standard′
  • ′PHS′
  • ′TW′ (drinking water)

3. Choice of shape

You can choose between individual and surface spacers.

Fibre concrete mixtures at a glance

Fibre concrete mix 'Standard':

The standard mix covers the usual applications according to the regular exposure classes. The use of MAX FRANK fibre-reinforced concrete spacers offers you decisive advantages. They impress with their high load-bearing capacity and optimum bond with the fresh concrete.

Fibre concrete mix ‘PHS’:

In addition to the regular requirements of the exposure classes, there may be further additional technical stresses.
In the event of chemical attack by sulphate (with the exception of seawater), cement with high sulphate resistance (SR cement) must be used above exposure class XA1.
Chloride attack occurs in maritime environments and when de-icing salts are used. Inadequate protection of the reinforcement can result in premature component failure.
MAX FRANK can produce spacers with reduced chloride diffusion. This ensures maximum durability of the structure.
These criteria and a reduced water absorption capacity are covered by the ‘PHS’ mixture.

Fibre-reinforced concrete mix ‘TW’ drinking water:

For the construction of concrete drinking water tanks, we recommend the MAX FRANK spacers and wall thicknesses approved for the TW area. Our TW mix is tested and certified to the highest DVGW criteria in accordance with DVGW W270 and DVGW W347.
